Porcelain and Ceramic
Conservation
Porcelain and ceramics constitute some of the
oldest most technically perfected forms of Fine Art.
Unfortunately, they are also a fragile medium. Every day porcelain and ceramic objects
ranging from family heirlooms to priceless museum pieces are
chipped, cracked, or broken into many small pieces. Fortunately, advances in materials and
techniques in the last 30 years enable professional repairs to blend
perfectly with original surface. Missing pieces can be fabricated where necessary
to exactly match the original in color sheen and texture.
If a matching section is preserved on another section of the piece a mold can be made and
an exact casting can be made. If not a replacement can be
crafted by hand. Norton Arts has assembled a team of technicians who
blend knowledge of the latest materials and techniques with a
traditional craftsperson's high quality standards and respect for
the integrity of the original piece.
